Cinched fur jacket

One of the most common vintage furs that people own and we see in vintage shops is the classic Persian Lamb coat. Ubiquitously known as ‘Grandma’s coat’, it was most common in the late 1950’s and throughout the 1960’s.  Typically these are found in black, grey, and chocolate brown, often with a sapphire or brown mink collar.

Style a Persian lamb coat by balancing its heavy, textured, and often boxy vintage silhouette with slim-fitting wardrobe staples like skinny jeans, leather leggings, or tailored trousers. Pair with modern accessories—such as ankle boots or knee-high boots—to balance the classic look, or wear with a belt to create a more defined waistline.

Use the “rule of thirds” by keeping the outfit underneath slim-fitting to avoid overwhelming your frame. Mix materials — pair the curly, matte texture of the Persian lamb with leather or silk to add contrasting textures.
