Mini skirt

The mini skirt—first introduced by the late British designer Mary Quant 1960—is constantly getting a trendy upgradeBut what makes the teeny tiny style a timeless staple, no matter the era, is its versatility—its short hemline helps the silhouette conform to almost any outfit.

The mini skirt may be tiny, but it’s mightier than you think. These days, mini skirts come in a slew of fabrics and textures, sizes and lengths, and are paired with even the most unconventional and polarizing ways.

Despite preconceptions, a mini skirt can be chic and classy. The key is to balance your pieces. Mini skirts and oversized blazers are a match made in heaven.

Outfit balance matters—mini skirts are a fun way to practice outfit balance. If your mini skirt is more on the micro mini side, you can add some balance by incorporating a longer-sleeve top for more dimension and coverage.

I typically like to pair my mini skirts with a long sleeve shirt, blazer, or cardigan so that I don’t feel overly revealing.
