Since I’m not one to wear modern clothes on the regular I always look for how you could turn a modern trend into a vintage one. Of course all fashion inspiration comes from what came before so it makes sense that one of the trends this season, ‘The Skirt Suit” is a throwback to the popular 1940s Women’s Two Piece Suit.
As a child of the ‘90s, I vividly remember my mom’s impressive collection of skirt suits. These included pencil skirts with their signature knee-length hem and matching structured blazers with exaggerated shoulder pads.
Today’s skirt suits, while definitely inspired by their heyday, have been revived for a new modern era and for the slew of cool It-girls that are making them a bonafide trend for spring 2025.
If you’re new to skirt suits, start off simple — with a classic brown iteration consisting of a tailored jacket and a perfectly fitting midi skirt. Plus, brown easily pairs with the rest of the colours.
