Style a Tuque

Why Canadians call a hat — “tuque“. It is a loan word from the French tuque (15th century). The word toque in Breton means ‘hat’.

Generally, toques or tuques are usually knitted and have pom-poms, while beanies are thinner and light enough to wear even when it’s not winter.

The winter offers many opportunities to create functional and fashionable outfits with winter hats. From tuques, that exude coziness to berets that are chic.

The right hat can transform your outfit, adding to your style or being the statement of your entire look.

  1. Despite being from the northern part of the US near the Canadian border, I’m mostly familiar with tuques from the old Bob & Doug McKenzie song “Twelve Days of Christmas”, which features five golden ones … 😁
